Source for Hockey is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you visit or make a purchase from the Source for Hockey website (the “Website”) (www.SourceforHockey.com). This Policy is also in connection with capturing your personal information when entering contests, submitting for electronic newsletters, and other forms of electronic messaging identified here within.

This Website, which is owned and operated by Sports Distributors of Canada Limited, owns the trade name 'Source for Hockey', ‘Source for Sports’ and ‘La Source du Sport’ and licences the right to use such name to independently owned and operated sporting goods stores across Canada (the “Members” or the “Stores”), who collectively form a national buying group of sporting goods. Hereinafter Sports Distributors of Canada Limited, Source for Hockey, Source for Sports, La Source du Sport, and/or the Members shall be individually and/or collectively, as the case may be, known as the “Company”. The Company values its customers and respects your privacy. The Company recognizes that it must maintain and use your personal information responsibly. We have created this Policy to demonstrate our firm commitment to your privacy and security, and to advise you about the collection, use and disclosure of personal information provided in store, by email, by mail or on the Website. The Policy also provides you the ability to “opt-out” of providing personal information that you do not wish to provide and to access, change or remove any personal information already collected. The Company will not collect, use, or disclose your personal information other than in compliance with the Policy.

By providing any personal information acquired during visitors’ and customers’ visits to the Website and/or visits to the Company’s stores and/or by accessing and using the Website or any Company microsites used in connection with contest and promotional offers, you hereby agree to all of the terms and conditions of the Policy and consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information as described in the Policy. You are responsible to ensure that your access to the Website and material available on or through it is legal in each jurisdiction in or through which you access or view the Website or such material.

Our policies and practices have been designed to comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (“PIPEDA”) and provincial private sector privacy acts.

What Personal Information Do We Collect?

Personal information includes information about an identifiable individual. For instance, your name, address, age, income, date of birth, gender, financial information and credit records, as well as your opinions, preferences and purchase patterns.

Moreover, every time you visit the Website, the following information is automatically obtained and compiled: your internet protocol (IP) address and the domain name registry information associated with that IP address; identification of your internet browser, operating system and hardware platform you are using; the date and time of your visit; the name and address (URL) of the web page you viewed immediately prior to accessing the Website; your entire query (if any) that was entered into a search engine which led you to the Website; and any other “click stream” data. This information is stored in our log files. Occasionally, if your browser is not configured to prevent disclosure of such information, the following information may also be revealed: your name, email address, home and work addresses, telephone and fax numbers and any plain text commentary.

Additionally, the complete record of your actions at the Website, including all pages visited, the time spent on each page, the information sent or received and the names of all files uploaded or downloaded is collected. This tracking information may be compiled by us in the aggregate and made available to third parties primarily to identify demographic data regarding our customers.

As a result of these actions, you might supply us with personal information, such as your name, date of birth, email, postal addresses, telephone number(s), credit card information, product interest information and financial information and, in certain circumstances, your comments, suggestions, ideas, opinions and individual preferences. We may also maintain a record of your product interests and acquire information about you from other present and future Company Affiliates.

 

Do We Collect Information from Children?

In light of the importance of protecting children’s privacy, we do not intend the Website for child audiences, and we do not collect, process or use on the Website any information relating to an individual whom we know to be under 18 years old without the prior, verifiable consent of his or her parent or other legal representative. If a parent or guardian discovers that his or her child has provided us with personally identifiable information, such parent or guardian has the right, upon request, to view the information provided by the child and/or to require that it be deleted from our records. What Device Information Are We Collecting from Each Visit?

  • “Third-Party Tracking” is tracked referring to the act of placing a pixel on the device browser for advertising purposes such as displaying relevant content on search engines like Google, social media platforms, and other websites not of our own, based on a previous visit to the Website with the idea of improving your web browsing experience.

Moneris Offlinx

Moneris Offlinx is a marketing analytics tool that measures the impact of the Website's digital marketing strategies and activities on driving in-store and online sales. For Offlinx to provide performance and in-store attribution insights about marketing campaigns, Offlinx captures online interaction and behaviour of all users brought into the Website by an Urchin Tracking Module (or UTM). This parameter records for analytics purposes and uses the data collected to compute the attribution results and present and model them on an interactive dashboard to measure the success or failures of a digital marketing campaign.

Offlinx does not enable targeted advertising based on users’ behaviour in any way and is only used to measure performance and effectiveness using non-sensitive information and the data generated is anonymous, encrypted, and tokenized as random cookie ID number related to website visits. Offlinx does not collect name, address, email address, user device location history, or full web browsing history of the device owner.

To opt-out of Offlinx tracking, users must disable or delete cookies on their device or disable cookies from being recorded on the Website. By doing this, Offlinx will not be able to record any analytics, trace, or track the user’s online visits that may be linked to purchases in-store and online on the Website.

 

How Do We Use Your Personal Information?

In order to better serve you, we may combine information you give us online, in our stores, by email, telephone, or in writing about your product interests. We may also combine these with readily available demographic information in order to enable us to communicate with you, by telephone (including by way of automated dialing answering device), email, mail or otherwise, about our products, services, surveys, promotions, special offers, and contests.

We use the Device Information that we collect to help us screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimize our Website (for example, by generating analytics about how our customers browse and interact with the Website, and to assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns).

Furthermore, we use the Order Information that we collect generally to fulfill any orders placed through the Website (including processing your payment information, arranging for shipping, and providing you with invoices and/or order confirmations).

We also use information collected from the Website to measure interest in the various areas of the Website, to ensure that links on the Website facilitate easy navigation and to help make the Website more interesting and informative. If you submit your contact information and resume for employment purposes with us, this information will only be used to evaluate your qualifications for the desired position and, if needed, to contact you.

Other uses of Device Information relating to the Website include retargeting, remarketing and re-engagement, used to reach people who previously visited the Website. This information is used on search engines like Google and on social media platforms like Facebook providing you relevant and personalized content and advertisements linking back to the Website. Like many online services, including Google, we collect and store certain information automatically and use this information to market to you;

In the event of a sale of all, or substantially all, of any one of our member or affiliate stores or another similar transaction (such as a sale of a division or business unit), we may transfer or disclose your personal information to a purchaser for the purposes of evaluating and/or effecting a proposed transaction or operating and managing the affairs of the acquired business, or for other purposes identified in the Policy, all in accordance with the terms of the Policy, only if the purchaser remains a member of Sports Distributors of Canada Limited, or an affiliate of thereof.

We may transfer personal information to non-affiliated third parties for processing on our behalf (such as fulfillment services, technical support, delivery services and financial institutions) pursuant to agreements that prohibit the third parties from using or disclosing the personal information other than for the purpose of processing and which impose security safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. These third parties are only provided with the personal information necessary to perform their specific service. We reserve the right to disclose your personal information as required by law, in response to legal or regulatory process and law enforcement requests by government authorities that have asserted a lawful right to access such information, to our legal counsel, or as necessary to protect the property, interests and rights of the Company and any Company Affiliates.
